What you'll learn

You will gain skills and knowledge to qualify for an entry-level position and be prepared to take the Pharmacy Technician Certification Exam (PTCE) for national certification. (102 Hours)

Training Includes:

  • State and federal drug laws and regulations
  • Pharmaceutical abbreviations, measurements, and calculations
  • Drug forms and administration
  • Prescription reading and interpretation
  • Retail and hospital pharmacy practices
  • Compounding, medication safety, and dispensing preparation of sterile IV products
  • Customer service and human relations
  • Prescription drug uses, dosages, side effects, and precautions

Admission Requirements:

  • Provide proof of high school completion (high school transcripts, copy of high school diploma, or copy of completion of GED requirements)
  • A reading and math test with scores of at least 10th-grade level
  • Government-issued ID card
  • Social security card
  • A physical and emotional ability to carry out pharmacy activities including lifting, stretching, and standing for long periods

Pharmacy Technician Work Based Learning (24 Hours)


Take what you learned in class and put it to work. This training will allow students to expand practical skills beyond the classroom setting. At the end of this course students will be able to evaluate career selection, demonstrate employability skills, and satisfactorily perform work-related competencies. You must be enrolled in the Pharmacy Technician class to participate in this course.
