Emergency Medical Technician (EMT)
Designed to train individuals to become emergency medical personnel. Successful completion of this course allows the student to take the North Carolina EMT Exam. This is the first step in becoming a Paramedic.

What you'll learn
This course teaches patient assessment and basic life support techniques. (240 Hours)
Training Includes:
- Legal aspects of patient care
- Basic anatomy
- Airway management and CPR
- Hemorrhage control
- Oxygen administration
- Shock
- Bandaging and splinting
- Skull, spine, and chest injuries
- ]Child birthing
- Exposure to cold and heat
- Driving & Truck Maintenance
Admissions Requirements:
- Must be at least 17 years of age
- Provide proof of high school completion (high school transcripts, copy of high school diploma, or copy of completion of GED requirements) OR demonstrate reading proficiency by college transcripts, a computerized placement test, or the CASAS reading assessment at the eleventh-grade level.
- Attend course orientation class*
- Back ground checks maybe required by the clinical sites
Cost of Class:
- Tuition/Registration: $180 (may be waived with appropriate documentation)
- Text: $165 (subject to change)
- Cost of CPR card
- Liability insurance: $13
- Accident insurance: $1.20
Other Fees:
- Drug screening for clinical site
- Background check for clinical site
- Certification exam: $68
